Today's Tarot Card: Two of Wands
The two's are all about reflection - both inward and outward. When we first start out on a new adventure, or we have gone through a transition and have changed the way we think or feel or act, there is - understandably - a point in the newness of it all where we stop and think, where we wonder if we are heading in the right direction, if we are doing the right thing, have we done all the necessary prep-work to proceed on our venture, so in that regards, the two's are all about the planning stages and making sure we have everything we need, crossing those t's and dotting those i's, and making sure we have all people in place. It's about partnership, balance and communication. The wands are connected to the element of Fire, which is all about passion, drive, that which makes us feel alive and gives us purpose in our lives. In the beginning stages of things, it is the optimism of new ideas, new concepts, new ways of feeling and thinking and doing. The wands are also about personal power (in the "passion" sense - what makes us WHO we are), and about having the courage to follow those dreams, to not be afraid in the face of adversity, to know to your soul that this is YOU.
When you take all that and put it together, you get the Two of Wands, which is all about being on the precipice between the past, the present and the future.... what lies ahead of us as well as what we left behind. It is not just about the world outside of us, it is also about our own inner world and what we are doing to keep ourselves 'true' to ourselves. In the card you see the man holding a globe, which represents the outer world, as he gazes upon it, pondering his life and his decisions and progress, while he hand holds firmly to the wand, which is a reminder to him (on both the physical and psychological level) of his desires, the reasons he is on this path.
When this card arrives in a reading, it is a signal to pay attention to your inner self, to that 'little voice in your head", the one that instinctually knows where to go and how to get there. Remember who you are and what makes you unique. Be mindful of why you set off on this journey to begin with, and what you hope to accomplish, and consider not just the trip but the lessons, the people and the life you live along the way. Be open to the world around you, as well as the ever-changing world inside you. Do not forget your own personal power. Keep the line of communication open - both with those in your outer life and with the voice within yourself. Maintain the balance so that you can move forward towards your goals.
