Today's Tarot Card: Queen of Cups, Reversed

In order to understand the Queen in reversed, we first need to know a little about her in the upright position. Generally speaking, Queens can represent a person or aspects (qualities) that a person can possess. The Queen of Cups combines the 'motherly' aspects of queens with the elemental correspondence of water. When those characteristics are combined you have someone who is intutive, who loves the aesthetic quality of items, who is very doting, loving, caring and compassionate, who tends to the needs of others. She can be helpful and supportive, giving of her time and energy from both her heart and soul. When you think of the ideal mother, the Queen of Cups would likely pop in to mind.

When the Queen of Cups, reversed, shows up in a reading, it may be giving you the message that you are either overdoing some aspects of this particular queen to the point that you are neglecting your own needs or possibly to the detriment of others. When you do too much for others, not only are you putting your own committments and desires last and putting others first, you might fall in to a system of being taken for granted, and those who constantly receive your gracious help and blessings might fall in to a pattern of not being able to do for themselves. The Queen of Cups reversed reminds us that too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. It is not a lack of love or care that makes some back off. Sometimes it is a necessity to allow others to learn to stand on their own two feet.
